Classic Cherry Cheesecake Recipe: Creamy No-Bake Dessert

My Nana’s famous Cherry Cheesecake — incredibly delicious and the go-to dessert at every family gathering.

Ever since I was a child, I’ve loved being in the kitchen with my family. From shredding cheese on a box grater with my mom (which left a scar I still have) to sitting on a stool rolling pumpkin rolls for holiday gifts, those moments shaped some of my fondest memories.

Those face-to-face times with loved ones are precious to me, and I try to recreate that connection with Elle and Eric every day. Even though Elle is only eight months old, we include her in the cooking and baking process. Whether she’s in her carrier on my back or sitting in her high chair gnawing on a carrot while we prep dinner, she’s part of the routine and soaks up the experience.

One of my favorite childhood memories is making my Nana’s cherry cheesecake. I loved pressing the crust into the pan and being put in charge of spreading the cream cheese and cherry layers while Nana watched closely to make sure I didn’t lick the wooden spoon. When the cheesecake was finished, we’d sneak bites from the corners and hide the missing spots under extra whipped cream — our little secret.

I began sharing retro recipes on My Baking Addiction to reconnect with my childhood and to collect those family recipes in one place. I look forward to baking with Elle and creating new face-to-face memories we’ll both cherish.

I’m excited to encourage her creativity with these tried-and-true recipes. I can’t predict what she’ll invent, but inspiration is inspiration — whether it comes from a thirty-something craving cheesecake served in single portions or from a little girl discovering that food can be fun and adventurous with her mama by her side.

This cherry cheesecake is simple to make, wonderfully flavorful, and a staple at family events — from summer cookouts to Christmas dinners. We love getting into the kitchen and bringing this long-loved recipe back to life.

Serving Nana’s Cherry Cheesecake in individual glass dishes is my little modern twist — I cut the crust and layer the components into single servings. It’s a fun presentation, but just as delightful scooped straight from the pan.

Enjoy making this recipe with the people you love; it’s a delicious way to connect the past with new memories.
