Hello from sunny, 70-degree Washington D.C.! It is absolutely gorgeous out here. Here’s the forecast for Easter weekend:
Glorious!
Last night I enjoyed the sunshine and met up with fellow blogger Quinn for dinner at Mezza Luna, a lively tapas spot downtown. We were thrilled to snag outdoor seating given the beautiful weather.
Quinn is awesome. We talked for three and a half hours — it felt like catching up with an old friend.
I love dining with other food bloggers because:
- they don’t blink when you pull out your camera, and everyone waits for photos before touching the food;
- we wanted to try everything, so we ordered lots of small plates to share.
We started with bruschetta. I love bruschetta!
Next was the Lump Crab & Avocado Martini, tossed with basil, diced tomatoes, and a lemon vinaigrette — delish.
To get some vegetables in, we ordered the Escalivada Mediterranea — grilled eggplant, squash, and roasted peppers.
Our waiter surprised us with a complimentary bowl of hummus. Sweet — I love hummus!
As the sun set (flash photography ensued), we continued with seafood: Tuna Tartare — sushi-grade tuna in a soy vinaigrette. It was excellent, though I would have preferred no onions.

We finished with seared scallops served with a roasted corn sauce — one of my favorites.
It was a fun and tasty evening. Quinn and I discovered we have a lot in common beyond food blogging — we even realized we were in the same sorority and share a love of old-school MTV shows like Singled Out and Loveline. We connected on social media and found mutual friends, and it turns out we may have met briefly years ago. Small world!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — I meet the most interesting people through blogging. Can’t wait to hang out again, Quinn!
Today I’ve been studying for an Anatomy & Physiology test this afternoon. It’s hard to focus when the weather is this nice, so I took a break and ran 3.5 miles to try out my new New Balance shorts from FitBloggin.
I love these — my new favorite running shorts. They don’t ride up or pinch at the waist and they’re a great length.
(Ignore the number of running shoes I own — it’s fine.)
They feature the usual small waistband pocket for keys and an additional flat, unobtrusive back pocket perfect for an iPod or fuel.
I give these shorts two fANNEtastic thumbs up. If you need new running shorts, I highly recommend them. Thanks, New Balance!
Back to studying — have a lovely day! How’s the weather where you are?
