You’ll earn compliments whenever you serve this homemade keto spaghetti sauce. For me, homemade sauce brings back warm memories of family meals and a kitchen filled with the aroma of simmering tomatoes. This version captures that classic, comforting flavor while keeping the recipe low in carbs.

Tomatoes, onions, and garlic

This sauce uses two kinds of tomatoes for balanced flavor and texture: vine-ripened tomatoes for juiciness and bold tomato flavor, and Roma (plum) tomatoes to add natural sweetness and help thicken the sauce as they break down. A diced yellow (or white) onion and minced garlic build the savory base. I simmered the sauce about 45 minutes, but if your tomatoes are especially juicy you may want to simmer a bit longer to reach your preferred thickness.

Other ingredients that make this sauce shine

A small but distinctive addition to this sauce is chopped Kalamata olives. They lend a pleasant briny depth that complements the tomatoes without overwhelming the dish. The seasoning mix includes dried basil, oregano, parsley, and rosemary; you can use fresh herbs if preferred (use about three times the amount of fresh versus dried). A touch of granulated keto-friendly sweetener balances the acidity—adjust to taste.

Ways to serve this keto spaghetti sauce

This sauce pairs well with several low-carb options. Hearts of palm noodles are a favorite for their texture and are available in styles such as angel hair, linguine, or spaghetti—rinse and boil to your desired doneness. Shirataki noodles are another option, though their texture differs from traditional pasta. The sauce also works wonderfully as a dip for low-carb pizza chips, pepperoni cheese bites, pizza roll-ups, or as a companion to baked chicken nuggets and chicken Parmesan bites.
