Tips for Making Ice

Making ice at home is quick and fuss-free, but a few tips will help you get the best possible results:

  • Use an ice cube tray. Pouring water directly into the freezer or into makeshift containers rarely gives consistent cubes. A proper tray produces uniform, easy-to-handle pieces of ice.
  • Avoid automatic ice dispensers for this recipe. While built-in ice makers are convenient, hand-filled trays let you control water quality and cube size. For clear, well-formed cubes, fill the tray carefully and freeze on a level shelf.

    spatula, recommended but not required

Instructions

  • Set your freezer to 32°F (0°C).
  • Uncap the water bottle and pour water evenly into the ice cube tray.
  • If you have a small spatula, gently smooth the surface to reduce bubbles and create even cubes.
  • Place the tray on a level shelf in the freezer and allow it to freeze overnight.
  • The next morning, remove the tray and enjoy your ice cubes.

Notes
